We are always on the lookout for a good quality camera. As people who have dedicated a lot of hours to building a few YouTube channels, we always wondered whether it will be best if we use a video camera to film our videos rather than our smartphones (which we’ve used for majority of those videos until now).
At the start of the new year, we have been looking for a good quality camera capable of shooting videos in 4k quality. It also had to be within our limited budget (less than 300 GBP). So, after a bit of an online and offline research, we decided to invest in the small and compact Panasonic Lumix DC-GX800. Here are some specs:
- Advanced Self Shot Mode, Hands-free Selfie, Beauty Retouch.Image quality RAW, RAW+Fine, RAW+Standard, Fine, Standard/MPO+Fine / MPO+Standard (with 3D lens in Micro Four Thirds system standard)
- 4K PHOTO, Light Speed AF with DFD Technology
- 16.1MP Live MOS Sensor w/o Low Pass Filter, Venus Engine, 4K Video
- Wi-Fi PW-Less Connection, Direct Uploading
As expected, operating the camera proved to be a difficult process that requires some skill and knowledge about the basic photo settings. So far, our only disappointment is that the camera overheats before finishing the limited to 5min 4k video recording. We really hope that this will get resolved somehow… or not, who knows?! We also filmed the box opening of the camera for out YouTube channel:
We plan to publish more videos about this little camera as soon as we get to use it for a longer period of time. In the meantime, let us know if you have any questions about it.
